The 4 documents that determine whether your container clears customs
Certificate of Analysis (COA)
Per-batch third-party test report — SGS or equivalent. Dust %, heavy metals (Lead / Arsenic / Cadmium), water absorption, biodegradability (OECD 301B). Without a COA, ANVISA / GSO / AQIS will not clear the container.
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)
16-section safety document. Required for every lane. Most trading-company suppliers ship a generic MSDS that does not match the actual substrate — flag for the broker.
Health Certificate
Issued by China Inspection and Quarantine (CIQ) for animal-contact products. Required by GSO, MERCOSUR, AQIS. Most EU and NA lanes accept a Phytosanitary Certificate in lieu.
Certificate of Origin (COO) + preferential Form
COO alone for standard lanes. FORM A for GSP lanes (GCC, parts of South America, Africa). FORM F for China-Chile. FORM E for China-ASEAN. FORM RCEP for the broader RCEP bloc.

The 3 documentation mistakes that delay the container the longest
- Generic MSDS that doesn’t match the actual substrate. A bentonite MSDS that says “soy residue” or a tofu MSDS that says “mineral clay” — your customs broker will reject it on first review. PY-PET issues one MSDS per substrate.
- COA without a batch reference that matches the production lot. A COA that has no batch number is worthless — your buyer-side QA team cannot tie it back to a specific production run.
- Wrong FORM. FORM A and FORM E look almost identical on the page but cover very different trade lanes. Sending FORM A to a Chile-bound container means paying full MFN duty instead of FORM F preferential. That is a 6–12 % cost overrun, every time, for the life of the contract.
